Years ago I remember thinking that positive thinking was a crock! Yes, that’s exactly what I thought. I believed that there was a reality and that’s just the way it was, that things happened to you and that you couldn’t control them. I thought that all motivational speakers and life coaches were frauds just trying to get money out of people and that you thoughts were something that you couldn’t control.

Do I think that now?
No, of course not, but has taken me a lot of time and research to come to this conclusion.
Now I have absolutely proven that what you think and what you concentrate on really does shape your reality and your world. Coming to this conclusion took a lot of faith and a lot of trial and error. I have lived with being a negative or “realistic” person and experienced those results and alternatively I have chosen to think in a more positive and open way and I have experienced completely different results. Opportunities have opened up to me that previous would not have. I have met and enjoyed talking to people that previously I would not have interacted with, and I have grown and experienced so much more. And that is only the beginning.

I have come to understand that all things do happen for a reason, even if we do not understand that reason, and that we are all capable of truly amazing things once you let go of any thoughts that “I can’t do that”.

We are all victims of the daily thoughts and limitations that we place on ourselves. This is often programming that we receive from a very age, sometimes from our parents, siblings, friends or just society in general. How often have you heard stories of people who in circumstances that are unusual to themselves, find that they are more capable than they would have ever imagined? That is because once people are out of the confines of how they usually define themselves, they no longer face the mental limitations they have developed over long periods of time and just act.

So how do we overcome these daily thought limitations? By changing our thought patterns. By asking ourselves different questions. Instead of asking yourself “why am I so fat?”, ask yourself “what can I do to help myself lose weight right now?” or instead of saying to yourself “I am hopeless, I always make the same mistakes” say “I have learned from my previous mistakes and will do everything in my power to make sure I do not repeat them”.

It is something that you can teach yourself and like anything you need to keep practising at it until it becomes automatic. For me, I found reading about other people’s journeys really helped. You realise that all people, even highly successful ones have doubted themselves at some stage, but that they are able to put those thoughts aside and move onto more positive thoughts and ultimately a solution to their problems.

Something to…..think about?

Well I hope so.

I’ve just come back from my personal training session with my trainer Stone
Gye (yeah, I know – great name!) He is hardcore …..and he pushes
me so hard, sometimes I think I’m going to pass out. But you know the good
thing? I don’t! Infact I can feel my body getting stronger and stronger, and as
my muscles repair and grow after every session, I know that the next time I can
go that little bit further.

Do you think the same strategy could be applied to other areas of your life?
Of course it can. Take your brain for example. Do you think it’s full?
Do you think you have reached the peak of your knowledge and that there
is absolutely nothing else you can fit in there? Of course not! Infact
scientific studies have shown that we only use around 10% of our brain.
And that’s the really smart ones.

So, what can we do to add a little bit of useful information every day?
Well for example in the car in the morning, on the way to work
(or on the train) instead of listening to the radio or music all the time,
why not take the opportunity to listen to some world renowned successful
people, or some experts in a particular field – say health or marketing for
example. You can do this easily by downloading any of the number of audios
on the site www.successandthecityclub.com onto your iPod or iPhone.

In effect you can have your own little information library, and that way instead
of taking in all the advertisements you can be nourishing your brain with really
useful information that you can apply in all areas of your life.

Give it a try – go on – that’s how I got started.

And let me know how you go.

Keep rocking successful people x

Until next time,

Sharon

Hi there and welcome to my website.

If you are familiar with who I am you already know my story so far, but if you are not here’s a little more about me.

I am single, and live with my Persian cat Winifred in a fabulous apartment in an inner city suburb. I enjoy most things that single women my age enjoy and, if you are a fan of Sex and the City
(which I obviously am), you know that includes friends, fine dining, relaxation, shopping and of course…shoes!

The idea behind this site is to incorporate discussion not only about those things, but also to help you create a lifestyle that can comfortably afford them, as well as a secure financial future.

Who wouldn’t want to be able to enjoy shopping and lifestyle, whilst still being aware that planning for the future is important too?

Well the people that I have been studying have all that …and more. And how do you become successful? Easy….by copying successful people. Yes, that’s right. You know how your teachers in school were always telling you it was wrong to copy other people. Well guess what?
They were wrong!!!

By studying other people you can learn not only what they did right, but also what they did wrong, thereby cutting down on the amount of time you would spend making mistakes. You would be surprised how much information wealthy and successful people give away freely. And that
is because one of the secrets is “you must first give before you can receive”.

ALL truly successful people subscribe to this theory. And you will find that it has worked for them not only in the past but as they continue to practice this on ongoing basis, it continues to add to their success now and in the future.

So how do you do this? How can you put this simple theory into practice right now? Again it’s easy. Ask yourself everyday “how may I serve”. This simple change of state from “what’s in it for me?” will bring about enormous reward almost straight away. You will be amazed at how people will respond to you. And how they will remember. I’m not saying you should do it solely to reap future rewards because then your actions would lack sincerity. You should do it because you want to. The rewards will just come. Go on try it. Start now. Give, give, give. You will learn
to enjoy it. And the universe will remember.

It’s my challenge to you for the next week. Go forth and give. I’m not talking about money, although I’m sure many charities would appreciate that. I am talking about time, consideration, empathy, patience (something I need to work on), understanding and acknowledgment. When you take the time to recognise people, they will respond, and you will be amazed at how good it makes you both feel.

Slow down and look around. Everyone is hurtling through their lives at amazing speed, most of them unaware of the impact they have on those around them. If you stop and take the time to see from their perspective it will make you realise “we are all in this together”. So next time that crazy driver goes through a red light, or cuts you off, instead of being annoyed and angry feel sorry for them. If their life is obviously so out of control and their need to get to their destination 30 seconds earlier is apparently so great that they are willing to risk their own life and others, then they truly deserve our sympathy.

As some of you know I went to a Tony Robbins seminar a couple of weeks ago and one of the things that blew me away with Tony was not his motivation speeches, but his obvious empathy and love for people. Completely against my expectations he was not “some cheesy American” but a truly warm and compassionate individual. It made me more aware of my own behavior and selfishness and I made a commitment to change. And I have to say it feels really good.

So check out some of Tony Robbins speaking about why people do what they do. Its on this site as both a video and an audio file. And let me know what you think.

Till next time, here’s to your success.
Sharon (and Winifred)

I really want to share something very special with you all. Last weekend I attended Anthony Robbin’s last seminar in Australia - “Unleash the Power Within” - held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Can I just say that I have never experienced anything quite like it and I urge you ALL if you get the opportunity to see Anthony Robbins at ANY stage in your life, you really MUST go. What an amazing experience!

My first introduction to Anthony Robbins was about 3 years ago when I listened to his Audio program called “Personal Power II”. I was blown away at the time and found that his teachings were not only inspirational but made a lot of sense and really worked which I found refreshing.

So when I heard this was his last seminar in Australia I jumped at the chance to see him live. And I must say I will be forever grateful that I did.

The seminar goes for four full days, and I mean FULL days!

There is so much to say about what I learn at event, so I’ve decided not to spoil it now but giving you a very superficial overview. Instead over the next few weeks I am going to go back over my notes and put up a number of posts - ones that really drill down and explain some of his concepts and ideas in more detail.

In the meantime here are a couple of photos for you, which give you a sense of the scale of this event.
