I just had lunch with Bond, you know James Bond....otherwise known as 007, licenced to kill and all that. Actually it was Roger Moore, and last week I had lunch with him!
We met at Crown, just me and about 800 others, but I dont think he really cared about any of those people. I know it was me he really wanted to see and its a story I'm sticking to. Anyway when I was offered the opportunity to dine with Roger Moore I jumped at the chance . I knew it would be a momentous and memorable occasion and it was. The outfit had to be chosen, the smile had to be perfected (just incase he chose me out of the crowd for a question) and I need to practice my perfect stance (slightly side on with one leg placed at right angles in front of the other). That was for while I was waiting in line to have my newly purchased book signed. Trust me...I am not joking about this. Sadly when the time I can we were hurried through the signing like it was a production line. However, in my race past the book signing table he looked up, straight into my eyes and he smiled at me. And you know what? Even though he is in his 80's and his wife was standing guard, I ALMOST would have gone there.
Sir Roger is 81 now and still looks incredibly fit for his age. He spoke in detail about his life which believe it or not included lots of success beyond his 007 years and films. And what a life he has led. In Melbourne to promote his new book "My Word Is My Bond" Sir Roger told insightful, touching and often hilarious anecdotes and charmed the crowd for several hours. My friend Decca (who is a huge Bond fan) was beside himself...and rightly so. I must admit that I became an overnight fan as well.
If I learned anything today it was about a man who had lead an amazing life, who had achieved so much, and seen so many remarkable things as well as met many extraordinary people. I know every life is different and obviously Sir Roger Moore's story is truly unique, but it did inspire to strive that little bit harder. To reach beyond the ordinary and to see the adventure in life. To live an uncommon life and to be able to look back one day and say "wow what a ride". After all, the only thing you really have at the end of it all is your story. And I want to try and make mine a real page turner. I'll keep you posted on that!
Until next time,
Sharon (and Winifred)
Today's success tip comes from Jeremy Lim.
Young Ambassador of the Children's Medical Fund and freelance writer, Jeremy Lim, is a 16-year-old boy who has 'Brittle-bones' Disease.
His numerous achievements and positive attitude despite his daily challenges has attracted media attention all over the world.
What do you do to pick yourself up when you are feeling down?
Feeling down is as natural as feeling pain when you are hit with an object. How much pain you feel depends on the degree of impact.
Sometimes, I feel miserable. I think it is perfectly fine to feel that way, after all I am only human. However, I know I don't have to stay down forever and the quicker I let it go, the better it is for me.
What do I do to pick myself up? I don't make a big deal of what has passed because I cannot do anything to change it. Instead, I use my time and energy to think of solutions that will bring back my smiles.
I also remind myself that spring would not be so pleasant if there was no winter.
Of course, there will be times when I feel sad because of reasons beyond my control. One of the things I do to feel better is to write about it. I write my column for Today newspaper and this feels great because it gets the negative feelings out of my system.
In challenging times, I pick myself up by looking at funny pictures or comics and reading jokes to have a good laugh. I will also turn to my books for inspiration and words of wisdom.

Giving up Wine
I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner. I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy some wine with it instead of dinner?'
'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.
'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.
'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.' '
Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.
'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman 'I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'
'Well,' I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'
The homeless woman was shocked.
'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'
I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'
